CaptionKit for Mac is Here

Our new desktop app delivers a more reliable live captioning experience, with background audio processing and a dedicated home on your Mac.

After months of development and testing, we're excited to launch Early Access for the new CaptionKit desktop app for Apple Silicon Macs.

This is one of our biggest updates yet and lays the foundation for a faster, more reliable CaptionKit experience.

Your new desktop sidekick

Until now, CaptionKit has been available through your web browser, and that isn't changing. The browser version has been an easy and effective way for churches and organisations to caption services, meetings and events.

But we know that during live services and events, reliability is key, so we wanted to create an experience that's even more dependable.

The new Mac app gives CaptionKit its own dedicated home on your computer, allowing it to continue running independently of your browser while you focus on everything else happening during your event.

Background audio processing

One of the biggest improvements in the desktop app is that CaptionKit continues listening for audio even when it's running in the background.

Whether you're:

  • Switching between ProPresenter, OBS or presentation software.
  • Opening sermon notes.
  • Managing your livestream.

CaptionKit stays online and keeps listening, giving you one less thing to think about during a live service or event.

Early Access

This is our first public desktop release, so we're launching it as Early Access. That means we'll be making regular improvements over the coming weeks as we receive feedback from real users. If you spot a bug or have an idea for an improvement, just click the blue chat bubble to get in touch, we'd love to hear from you!

FAQ

What about Windows?

The Windows Desktop App is next on our roadmap. Once we're happy with the stability and performance of the Mac app, we'll begin rolling it out to Windows too. Keep your eyes peeled .

Does this replace the browser version?

No. CaptionKit will continue to be available in your browser, and nothing about that experience is changing. If the browser version suits your workflow, you can keep using it exactly as you do today.

Can I use my existing CaptionKit account?

Yes. Simply download and sign in using your existing CaptionKit account details.
